This week marks the beginning of Christian Aid week. Throughout the world Christian Aid are continuing to respond to the needs of many in places such as Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. As with everyone else they are adapting their fundraising efforts by having on-line events including a daily quiz and live streaming worship events.
Christian Aid will also be offering an ‘e-envelope’, to help people share the Christian Aid Week story with family and friends, and ask for a donation. Fuller details are available on their website.
We continue to mark the milestones in the lives of our church family members and wish to say many happy returns to Marie Nicolson who celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, 5th May; and to May Anderson who celebrates her 79th birthday today, Sunday, 10th May. Many congratulations to each of you!
We continue to pray daily for our church family, their families and those in the community for continued health and strength to deal with the challenges of life in lockdown.
If you are feeling low or struggling in any way please do not hesitate to contact either Douglas, Kirsteen or Naomi simply to talk or for prayer. All calls/texts/emails will be treated in complete confidence. Please do not struggle alone.

This week's online service is delivered by
our Parish Minister, Douglas Nicol.
The theme is: A Time to Contend!
Week beginning: Sunday 24th January 2021
NEWSLETTER
Dear friends,
As we watch the television with anticipation for news of lockdown lifting, we are encouraged by The Scottish Government's Communities Secretary, MSP Aileen Campbell’s message of reassurance to faith groups, saying that places of worship will be among the first to reopen when Covid restrictions are eased.
In her letter, Ms Campbell thanks congregations for their hard work to support local communities during the pandemic and says she appreciates "the significant role communal worship plays in supporting people’s mental and spiritual well-being, and its importance as a lifeline for many in preventing social isolation and loneliness".
She further adds “I would like to thank you all for the measures you have put in place to protect and support your congregations since the first lockdown in March 2020, and for all of the work you continue to do to help your communities through these difficult times.
Our response to the COVID pandemic has been guided by the principles set out in our Framework for Decision Making, and throughout we have always sought to reduce broader health, economic and societal harm.
We believe the latest public health measures, combined with the ongoing rollout of the vaccine are vital to our efforts to prevent our health services becoming overwhelmed, limiting loss of life and ultimately accelerating the return of our country to some level of normality”. She concludes “We do not want to keep these measures in place a minute longer than is necessary”.
As a congregation we should continue to pray for good decision making by those in charge, compliance of these rules by our country’s residents, the fast roll out of the vaccine and the end of the danger provided by Covid-19.
ONLINE SERVICES
As you are aware we are back to providing online services and our thanks go to Douglas and Kirsteen who, for the next few weeks, will be exploring ways to bring praise, scripture, teaching and prayer to you. We all desperately miss the act of corporate worship and for those of us at home it has been a delight to have the Sunday service available to view. Please do subscribe to the YouTube channel...there is no cost involved, it will simply allow you to know when each new service is available.
This week the title of Douglas’s talk is A Time to Contend!
PLEASE GET IN TOUCH
It has been often said that during lockdown we are all in the same boat....however we understand that yes, that while we are all in the same storm, some are in a luxury cruiser and some are clinging to driftwood. If you feel that you are barely clinging on, please know that you need not feel alone and that the ministry team are available anytime, simply for a chat or to pray with you. This is always in confidence. Please do not struggle alone.
You may have a specific prayer need or infact you may want to share good news. Please do not hesitate to contact them via phone, text or email. (details below)
