This week marks the beginning of Christian Aid week. Throughout the world Christian Aid are continuing to respond to the needs of many in places such as Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. As with everyone else they are adapting their fundraising efforts by having on-line events including a daily quiz and live streaming worship events.
Christian Aid will also be offering an ‘e-envelope’, to help people share the Christian Aid Week story with family and friends, and ask for a donation. Fuller details are available on their website.
We continue to mark the milestones in the lives of our church family members and wish to say many happy returns to Marie Nicolson who celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, 5th May; and to May Anderson who celebrates her 79th birthday today, Sunday, 10th May. Many congratulations to each of you!
We continue to pray daily for our church family, their families and those in the community for continued health and strength to deal with the challenges of life in lockdown.
If you are feeling low or struggling in any way please do not hesitate to contact either Douglas, Kirsteen or Naomi simply to talk or for prayer. All calls/texts/emails will be treated in complete confidence. Please do not struggle alone.

Online Worship Services
Welcome to our Online Worship Services. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak leading to us to be unable to gather in person for church as we usually would we have dedicated this space to bring the weekly service into your homes.
Please come here each Sunday to see the next service as it is uploaded, and services will remain available following this time so feel free to 'catch up' or re-watch a service through the week as desired.

Welcome by Douglas & Moderator Service 2

Week beginning: Sunday 5th July 2020
NEWSLETTER
Dear friends,
We do hope that you all continue to keep safe and well and are maybe starting to enjoy some of the benefits of lockdown easing.
You may have been aware that Douglas had trouble last week with his computer breaking down. Because of the technology issues he decided to take advantage of the pulpit supply sermons provided by the Moderator of the Church of Scotland, Rt Rev Dr Martin Fair for last Sunday and this Sunday and we hope that they were a blessing to you.
Thankfully, Douglas managed to find someone specialising in repairs for his make of computer and, although it is early days, it would seem to be working well and not too much of his previous work has been lost. So, we are trusting that we will be back to our normal format next week.
Douglas also took the decision last week to come out from self-isolation – his did not come under the order of a government letter – and was able to conduct two parish funerals, one on Thursday and one on Friday.
As we discussed previously, moves are afoot to work out when and how we can worship again together and Douglas will be sending a letter to every member of the congregation to keep them informed of the plans. Obviously the exact timing depends on the continuing declining numbers of patients with the virus and so we pray that there will be no second wave or peak as had previously been forecast.
Now that the school holidays have officially begun we pray for our young people. We pray that despite the rainy weather they can enjoy some more freedom, meeting up with friends outdoors or being able to visit grandparents. We are sorry that the school year has been so disrupted for them but our hope is that they will eventually be able to look back on this time fondly and can look forward to the next school term without fear or concern.
We pray for all teachers, classroom assistants, catering and office staff, janitors and cleaning staff that they feel safe and able to work under the new conditions when the time comes.
As from today we now have a You Tube channel. If you would like to watch today’s Sunday Worship Service, led by the Right Rev Dr Martin Fair, directly from our You Tube channel please press the link here:

In The Chosen, the YouTube drama series about Jesus and his calling the disciples, one of his followers questions a decision Jesus is making by saying “this is different!” Jesus replies “Get used to different!”
Although this is a fictional conversation it is one that we can relate to – we all have been, and will continue to be, getting used to different!
Douglas will be hosting the Monthly Healing Service on Zoom tomorrow evening, Monday 6th July, at the usual time of 7.45pm. The theme of the service is: In the name of the Lord, El Olam. If you would like to connect with us in this way, whether you have been to a Healing Service before or not, please email Katherine at kmnicol19@gmail.com by 5.00pm on Monday and she will email you back with an invitation ... which will contain a link and a password. This meeting will not be in the usual service format but will be a time to let us feel connected as we worship God through readings of His Word, a word of encouragement and prayer. All are most welcome!
Please do get in touch with Douglas, Naomi or Kirsteen to share anything new that is going on with you, or as ever, please remember that the ministry team are available for a chat, always in the strictest confidence. Simply being able to listen, comfort and pray with you if desired would be a privilege.
Again, we want to mark the times of celebration in the lives of our church family members.
Congratulations to Lewis John Lawrie who celebrated his 2nd birthday on Monday, 29th June; to Martin Murray who celebrated his birthday on Tuesday, 30th June; to Jaimée Walker who celebrated her 22nd birthday on Friday, 3rd July; to Darcy Leigh Doherty who celebrated her 7th birthday also on Friday, 3rd July. Many Happy Returns to you all!
Congratulations to Douglas and Elizabeth MacLaren who celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on Friday, 3rd July.
