This week marks the beginning of Christian Aid week. Throughout the world Christian Aid are continuing to respond to the needs of many in places such as Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. As with everyone else they are adapting their fundraising efforts by having on-line events including a daily quiz and live streaming worship events.
Christian Aid will also be offering an ‘e-envelope’, to help people share the Christian Aid Week story with family and friends, and ask for a donation. Fuller details are available on their website.
We continue to mark the milestones in the lives of our church family members and wish to say many happy returns to Marie Nicolson who celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, 5th May; and to May Anderson who celebrates her 79th birthday today, Sunday, 10th May. Many congratulations to each of you!
We continue to pray daily for our church family, their families and those in the community for continued health and strength to deal with the challenges of life in lockdown.
If you are feeling low or struggling in any way please do not hesitate to contact either Douglas, Kirsteen or Naomi simply to talk or for prayer. All calls/texts/emails will be treated in complete confidence. Please do not struggle alone.

NEWSLETTER
Dear friends,
We do hope that you continue to keep well and that the disappointing news of Glasgow remaining in Level 3 lockdown has not impacted you too negatively.
We continue to pray for those affected both physically and mentally by the virus and its after effects and again, give thanks to all the NHS workers who have supported us in the last year.
ADULT BAPTISM
Today we celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism.
During the service William Hughes Leiper will be baptised.
We warmly welcome visitors who have come along to the service today
to witness and celebrate William’s baptism.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY
This year there is a “Blended General Assembly”. It began on Saturday 22nd May and will run until its close on Thursday 27th May. Because of social distancing, there will be a very small number of people in the Assembly rooms in Edinburgh with the majority of participants being online. Assembly began with the installation of the new moderator, Rt Hon Lord Wallace of Tankerness QC, whose role it is to chair the proceedings of the week and then act as the Church’s ambassador for the next 12 months.
Tributes have been made to the outgoing moderator Rt Rev Dr Martin Fair, saying “He has served the Church with great insight and compassion for all those operating under the most difficult of circumstances”.
If you wish to follow the Assembly, the event is being live streamed and the link is found on the Church of Scotland website.
SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE
We apologise that, owing to technical difficulties, there was no recording of last week’s Sunday morning service made available on our website or YouTube page. Work has been undertaken to improve the sound quality of each service online and we trust that you will continue to enjoy the benefit of this.
LODGING HOUSE MISSION
The Lodging House Mission have been delighted that Angela, their support worker has been able to resume her one-to-one appointments with clients. They are continuing to offer their Chaplaincy phone line (07864 705 668) for wellbeing, prayer, and bereavement conversations.
They ask for prayers for;
-
all of their clients, in limbo, currently housed in temporary accommodation awaiting their forever home.
-
their partner agencies as services resume and staff return to the front lines
-
congregations and businesses whose ongoing support makes possible the many services we provide
-
the new manager, June, the staff team, volunteers and board as we begin a new chapter
