      sunday, 4th OCTOber 2020

Today, following our return two Sunday ago, we continue to worship in the sanctuary at Priesthill Road at 11.00am.

Here is the recording of the service:

Week beginning: Sunday 4th October 2020

Dear friends,

We start the newsletter with an apology and thank you for your patience regarding the Sunday service from last week being placed online. (Church website and St Christopher’s Priesthill and Nitshill Church Youtube channel)

As we alluded to in last week’s newsletter, the technology required is very challenging and it has been a steep learning curve.  We are optimistic that all the difficulties that have arisen this week will soon be ironed out but we do realise how frustrating it has been for those members who cannot attend the Church in person on a Sunday morning.

It is most certainly our desire to share the full service with everyone so please be assured that all measures are being taken to make this possible in the long term and the matter is being given top priority.

This weekend Douglas attended, virtually, The Church of Scotland General Assembly which was available to view for everyone via a livestream from Edinburgh, where only a small number of officials were gathered.  Business was formal but obviously with a significantly reduced timetable, and they too had interruptions due to problematic technology! This is the new world we find ourselves in! A copy of all reports is also available in written form via the Church of Scotland Website.

The Lodging House Mission reports that this year their annual Homelessness Sunday Service was due to take place on Sunday, 25th October with the Moderator Rev Dr. Martin Fair delivering an address. While their buildings remain closed, the Moderator has kindly agreed to record his address and this shall be made available on their YouTube channel in due course.

This year while their buildings remain closed LHM are providing the facility to purchase Christmas cards online via their website.

As autumn plans and preparations get under way, they ask for your continued prayers for:

1. The Lodging House Mission Family; the staff team, the dedicated volunteers and the agency partners as they look towards winter planning.

2. Their vulnerable client group and all who are recipients of LHM’s emergency support.

3. Wisdom and compassion as partner agencies meet and plan for the Winter Night Shelter.

4. The wider church family as they celebrate Harvest season and support their Harvest Appeal.

Details of how we can contribute, as a congregation will be shared in due course.

A reminder that this Monday evening (5th October) is the Healing Service being held on Zoom, starting at 7.45pm. This service is informal and there is no pressure to speak or to pray out.  It will involve some worship, some teaching and prayers for those in need, led by Douglas Nicol. Please know you are most welcome to join whether or not you have prayer needs for yourself or others or whether or not you have been at a Healing Service in the Sanctuary in the past or more recently via Zoom.

Please contact Katherine Nicol on 07877 302189 or on if you would like a link to the Zoom meeting or please feel free to contact her if you are unfamiliar with Zoom and would like a practice run in advance of the meeting.

It is lovely to see one another again this way, particularly for those who are unable to meet on a Sunday morning.  Even online we are able to spend time in God’s presence and to learn more about Him.  Please do consider joining us.

The theme this month is “God Portals and God Gates.”

This coming Tuesday, 6th October, at 7.30pm, the Kirk Session will meet again via Zoom and, among other things, will reflect on the Sunday Morning Worship Services in the sanctuary at Priesthill Road which have taken place since they started up again on Sunday, 20th September.

Again, we take the time to mark the times of celebration in the lives of our church family members.

Congratulations to Rebecca Rennie who celebrated her 15th birthday on Tuesday, 29th September. Many happy returns Rebecca!

As ever, if you have any worries or concerns, prayer requests or indeed good news to pass on, please do not hesitate to contact one of the ministry team...details below.
