This week marks the beginning of Christian Aid week. Throughout the world Christian Aid are continuing to respond to the needs of many in places such as Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. As with everyone else they are adapting their fundraising efforts by having on-line events including a daily quiz and live streaming worship events.
Christian Aid will also be offering an ‘e-envelope’, to help people share the Christian Aid Week story with family and friends, and ask for a donation. Fuller details are available on their website.
We continue to mark the milestones in the lives of our church family members and wish to say many happy returns to Marie Nicolson who celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, 5th May; and to May Anderson who celebrates her 79th birthday today, Sunday, 10th May. Many congratulations to each of you!
We continue to pray daily for our church family, their families and those in the community for continued health and strength to deal with the challenges of life in lockdown.
If you are feeling low or struggling in any way please do not hesitate to contact either Douglas, Kirsteen or Naomi simply to talk or for prayer. All calls/texts/emails will be treated in complete confidence. Please do not struggle alone.

Mother's day service
14th march 2021
Welcome to our Mother's Day online Sunday Service, led by our Parish Assistant Kirsteen, and featuring our Sunday School girls Jaydene and Ashanti, and our Elder Pamela. We hope you have a blessed day!

Week beginning: Sunday 15th March 2021
NEWSLETTER
Dear friends,
Although we are another week closer to corporate worship in the sanctuary in Priesthill Road, we are still awaiting complete confirmation of the opening date. We are optimistic that this could be Palm Sunday, Sunday 28th March but please know, everyone who is used to gathering with us will be informed personally.
CHRISTIAN AID
With lockdown, charities have had to review their fund raising methods. This year, instead of their traditional Bridge Crosses challenge, Christian Aid are encouraging supporters to join them on a virtual Kiltwalk!
This event will take place over the weekend of 23-25 April 2021. So anyone, anywhere in Scotland can safely take part! And every pound raised will be topped up by 50% from The Hunter Foundation.
The Church of Scotland’s Moderator, Rev Dr Martin Fair will be donning his kilt for Christian Aid.
‘Walking, sporting the kilt, Christian Aid... what’s not to like?
Though by necessity it will be different this year, Kiltwalk is more important than ever. It’s vital that we find ways to support development and charitable organisations when so much of their usual fundraising has been impossible.
I’m under starter’s orders and I can’t wait!’
Register for the Kiltwalk
All you need to do is register on the Kiltwalk website. Then, choose a local walk, run or cycle and ask friends and family to sponsor you. On the day, simply pull on your Christian Aid t-shirt - and perhaps something tartan - and get going!
Once you register, a JustGiving page will automatically be set up for you. You will be able to personalise it and share it far and wide. Christian Aid Events Officer, Lauren, will be delighted to support you to register or to answer any questions you might have. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch - lmcfarland@christian-aid.org
Please let us know if you anticipate taking part and are looking for sponsors!
LIGHT RELIEF!
Many of us have had various reactions to lockdown and all its challenges but one Elder of Methlick Parish Church decided to put her light-hearted observations to the tune of the traditional folk song, Wild Rover.
Mrs Jeannie Price has been writing comic verse and parodies of well known songs for a while and decided to share this one online...see link below.
We hope you enjoy this bit of fun and do let us know if you have been inspired in a similar manner!
MINISTRY TEAM
As ever, do remember that if you have any concerns or are struggling in any way, the ministry team are always available to talk or pray over the phone with you. This is always in confidence. (contact details below)
CONGRATULATIONS AND CELEBRATIONS!!
Although there is so much difficulty and anxiety at this time we take the time to mark the times of celebration in the lives of our church family members. Please do let us know if you have any good news to share.
Congratulations to Orlagh Dempster who celebrated her 6th birthday on Monday, 8th March. Happy Birthday Orlagh!
