Dear friends,

He is Risen! He is Risen indeed!  We wish you all a very happy Easter indeed.

A reminder of last Sunday’s good news.......................

The Vacancy Procedure Committee of the Presbytery of Glasgow proposes that the vacant charge of St Christopher’s Priesthill & Nitshill should be granted leave to call a minister on an unrestricted basis in accordance with the Presbytery Plan.

The formal intimation to our congregation communicating this decision can be found below this newsletter.

In relation to this matter, Douglas Nicol writes the following:

“In anticipation of my retirement on Saturday, 5th June 2021, the Vacancy Procedure Committee of Glasgow Presbytery are proposing that when our charge (parish church) becomes vacant that we should be granted leave to call a minister on an unrestricted basis in accordance with the current Presbytery Plan. You can see this set out in the document below this newsletter.

If you are a communicant member of the congregation, you have the right to request that this proposal be considered at a full meeting of Glasgow Presbytery rather than simply be accepted as a decision of the Presbytery, without discussion.

As the document says, if you wish to do that, you should submit your request in writing to the Interim Presbytery Clerk by this Wednesday, 7th April, in the manner described in the document.

If you would like any help in regard to this matter, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.”

Our parish minister, Douglas Nicol, will be on Annual Leave from tomorrow, Monday, 5th April, until Sunday, 11th April, inclusive.

Due to tomorrow being the Easter Monday holiday, our healing service this month will take place a week on Monday, 12th April.

All charities have been feeling the pressure of the pandemic and lockdowns.  Christian Aid are encouraging us to consider signing up for the virtual kiltwalk. They say... “If your boots are made for walking, why not take part in the Kiltwalk?

You can take on any Kiltwalk-inspired challenge you wish. Go for a walk (of any length), cycle, jump on a trampoline or take the family on a scavenger hunt!

The Kiltwalk is happening virtually all across Scotland from 23-25 April. Get moving for Christian Aid and The Hunter Foundation will increase your sponsorship by 50%!”

If this is something you would like to consider, more details can be found on the Kiltwalk website...

You may remember the 8 episode series called the Chosen, a crowd funded venture which followed the early days of Jesus’s ministry.  We were delighted to discover that season 2 of the Chosen is to be released today, Easter Sunday, although the time is not yet known.

The Chosen is based on the true stories of the gospels of Jesus Christ. Some locations and timelines have been combined or condensed.  Backstories and some characters or dialogue have been added.  However, all biblical and historical context and any artistic imagination are designed to support the truth and intention of the Scriptures.  Viewers are encouraged to read the gospels.

This is the link for the Chosen website where you can view each episode.

As ever, do remember that if you have any concerns or are struggling in any way, the ministry team are always available to talk or pray over the phone with you.  This is always in confidence.  (contact details below)

Although there is so much difficulty and anxiety at this time we take the time to mark the times of celebration in the lives of our church family members. Please do let us know if you have any good news to share.

Congratulations to Ann Smith who celebrated her  birthday on Saturday, 3rd April.  Many Happy Returns to you, Ann!
