                                                               NEWSLETTER

Dear friends,

As we discussed recently, the Kirk Session, in accordance with Government guidelines, continues to meet online via Zoom.   At the latest Session meeting there were a number of items on the agenda and we would like to highlight a couple of the decisions reached.

STATED ANNUAL MEETING

It was acknowledged that, as there had been no Stated Annual Meeting this year, members of the congregation had not had the opportunity to examine the Accounts from 2019.  It was decided therefore that, should anyone desire a copy, they should simply contact Rev Douglas Nicol and he will email them out.  If you, or anyone you know from the congregation would like a copy but does not have an email address, please make Douglas aware and they can be posted out as a hardcopy.

GIFT AID

Although we were unable to meet together as a Congregation in the Sanctuary for many months, our outgoings and financial obligations remained the same.  We are very grateful to the members who have continued to submit their Tithes and Offerings, one way or another, but at this time the Session would like to encourage anyone who is eligible for the Gift Aid scheme to consider signing up for this and for members to consider using Bank Standing Order as a method of giving.

Gift Aid is good news for the Church because:

  • It increases our giving by 25 per cent

  • No minimum contribution is required

  • No particular amount has to be promised

  • There is no fixed term during which contributions must be made

  • Tax may be recovered retrospectively.

All that is required is that the donor must pay UK income tax or capital gains tax, at any rate, at least equal to the amount of tax being reclaimed, and give their offering or donation through offering envelopes or by bank standing order or by cheque to establish the necessary audit trail.

Either Douglas Nicol, or our Treasurer, Jess Mitchell, or our Session Clerk, Douglas MacLaren, would be very happy to discuss with you, in confidence, Gift Aid and/or switching to Standing Order as a method of payment for your Tithes and Offerings should you be interested.

MINISTRY TEAM

The ministry team are available to talk and/or pray with anyone from the congregation or Parish who is struggling in any way.  Please know that all these requests are dealt with in the strictest confidence.  The team’s contact details can be found below.

CONGRATULATIONS AND CELEBRATIONS!!

Although there is so much difficulty and anxiety at this time we take the time to mark the times of celebration in the lives of our church family members.

Congratulations to Scott McInnes who celebrated his 17th birthday on Thursday, 12th November; to Bet Fraser who celebrated her birthday on Saturday, 14th November; to Irene McLeish who celebrates her birthday today, Sunday 15th November.

Happy Returns to each of you!
