sunday, 6th DEcember 2020

Today, following our return eleven Sundays ago, we continue to worship in the sanctuary at Priesthill Road at 11.00am.

Week beginning: Sunday 6th December 2020

                                                                        NEWSLETTER

Dear friends,

Thank you for taking the time to read our online newsletter.  Some of the paragraphs this week are a repeat from last week but it is important to emphasise these messages.

Trusting you are continuing to keep safe and well.  Please know you are loved and being prayed for often.  Please do not hesitate to contact anyone from the ministry team if there are any specific issues you would like them to pray about, remembering this is always done in confidence.

In this week’s Sunday morning service Douglas will be leading us in Holy Communion.  Due to ongoing restrictions, the congregation provided their own elements. Perhaps you may like to make sure you have some bread and something to drink beside you before you begin watching the service when it is posted on YouTube, Facebook and the Website during the week.  A reminder that if you watch via YouTube, you can press the Subscribe button and it will automatically alert you to when the service is available to watch.

MONTHLY HEALING SERVICE

Our monthly Healing Service will take place on Monday, 8th December 2020, at 7.45pm via Zoom.  This month’s service is titled “I lift my eyes up to the mountains.” If you wish to attend, please contact Katherine Nicol at KMnicol19@gmail.com or call her on 07877302189 and she will send you a link or the telephone number and password if you would prefer to join in that way.

Everyone is most welcome to attend whether you have joined us before or not, whether you have a healing need or not, please know we would love to see you for an informal time of worship and teaching.

CHRISTMAS VIRTUAL COFFEE MORNING

In the absence of a Christmas Fayre this year, and the fact that many of us are unable to gather together on a Sunday morning, Pamela Caskie is going to host a Christmas Coffee Morning on Zoom! All are most welcome to join in, whether this will be your first ever zoom meeting or whether you are an old hand!

The date of this get together is Saturday, 12th December at 10.30am.

For security reasons we will not give the link here, instead please contact Pamela directly on pcg.caskie@gmail.com or by telephone on 07449814734 before the 11th December and she will email the link to you.

You don’t have to do anything other than click on the link and have a hot cup of coffee ready to enjoy whilst we have a blether! If you are unsure how to use zoom or would prefer to join by telephone please do not hesitate to contact Pamela for further information.

ANNUAL BEREAVEMENT SERVICE

The annual bereavement service will be done in a Zoom format this year.  The service will be held on Sunday, 13th December, at 3pm and an invitation is extended to all.  For security reasons we cannot publish the zoom link here but if you would like to attend, please contact Douglas Nicol.

We are aware not everyone is very comfortable with being seen on a screen at zoom meetings and it is possible to join without activating your webcam or, alternatively,

we can also provide a telephone number which allows participants to dial in and be able to hear the service without need of a laptop or other screen.  If this is something you would be interested in but are not too confident about, please do not hesitate to contact Katherine Nicol on 07877302189 in the days running up to the service and she will be delighted to have a practice with you.

CHRISTMAS SERVICE

This year there will be one service on Christmas Eve, Thursday 24th December at 7pm.  There will be no gathering in the Sanctuary; rather a pre-recorded service will be made available via YouTube, the Church Website and Facebook.  Both Kirsteen and Naomi are organising a Nativity play with the children, which will be a delightful addition to the service.  Please continue to pray for Naomi and Kirsteen as they continue to support the children, young people and families of the Parish.

THE REV COLIN BROWN

The Rev. Colin Brown, minister at Darnley United Free Church, is due to retire in early 2021 after 41 years’ ministry in Darnley. Over the next few weeks we will be inviting members of the congregation to make a donation towards a gift which we will present to him before he takes his leave of us.

CONGRATULATIONS AND CELEBRATIONS!!

Although there is so much difficulty and anxiety at this time we take the time to mark the times of celebration in the lives of our church family members.

Congratulations to Kirsteen Marshall who celebrated her birthday on Wednesday, 2nd December; and to Kyle Shannon who celebrated his 14th birthday on Friday, 4th December. Many Happy Returns to each of you!
