This week marks the beginning of Christian Aid week. Throughout the world Christian Aid are continuing to respond to the needs of many in places such as Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. As with everyone else they are adapting their fundraising efforts by having on-line events including a daily quiz and live streaming worship events.
Christian Aid will also be offering an ‘e-envelope’, to help people share the Christian Aid Week story with family and friends, and ask for a donation. Fuller details are available on their website.
We continue to mark the milestones in the lives of our church family members and wish to say many happy returns to Marie Nicolson who celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, 5th May; and to May Anderson who celebrates her 79th birthday today, Sunday, 10th May. Many congratulations to each of you!
We continue to pray daily for our church family, their families and those in the community for continued health and strength to deal with the challenges of life in lockdown.
If you are feeling low or struggling in any way please do not hesitate to contact either Douglas, Kirsteen or Naomi simply to talk or for prayer. All calls/texts/emails will be treated in complete confidence. Please do not struggle alone.

sunday, 13th DEcember 2020
Today, following our return twelve Sundays ago, we continue to worship in the sanctuary at Priesthill Road at 11.00am.
Week beginning: Sunday 13th December 2020
NEWSLETTER
Dear friends,
Here we are in the third week of Advent and in Tier three of lockdown!
Our prayer is that you all continue to keep safe and well and are able to navigate the new set of regulations.
Unfortunately we are not really any closer to all getting together in person at Worship or socially but we are endeavouring to keep in contact via the Website and by posting services on YouTube. Please remember to subscribe to our YouTube channel and that way you will receive an alert when the Service is ready to be viewed. We are also, of course, continuing to make full use of Zoom!
ANNUAL BEREAVEMENT SERVICE THIS AFTERNOON
The annual bereavement service will be done in a Zoom format this year. The service will be held today, Sunday, 13th December, at 3pm and an invitation is extended to all. For security reasons we cannot publish the zoom link here but if you would like to attend, please contact Douglas Nicol.
We are aware not everyone is very comfortable with being seen on a screen at zoom meetings and it is possible to join without activating your webcam or, alternatively,
we can also provide a telephone number which allows participants to dial in and be able to hear the service without need of a laptop or other screen.
If this is something you would be interested in but are not too confident about, please do not hesitate to contact Katherine Nicol on 07877302189 and she will be delighted to have a practice with you.
CHRISTMAS VIRTUAL COFFEE MORNING
In the absence of a Christmas Fayre this year, Pamela Caskie kindly offered to host a Christmas Coffee Morning on Zoom! It took place yesterday (Saturday 12th December at 10.30.) It was fun to be able to see one another and have a chat with coffee! If you would be interested in joining in a Zoom coffee morning or evening, please contact either Pamela Caskie (tel 07449 814734) or Katherine Nicol (07877302189) and we can work out the best time for catching up.
CHRISTMAS SERVICE
This year there will be one service on Christmas Eve, Thursday 24th December at 7pm. There will be no gathering in the Sanctuary; rather a pre-recorded service will be made available via YouTube, the Church Website and Facebook. Both Kirsteen and Naomi are organising a Nativity play with the children, which will be a delightful addition to the service. Please continue to pray for Naomi and Kirsteen as they continue to support the children, young people and families of the Parish.
THE ALTERNATIVE CHRISTMAS CARD
As we have done in the last few years, this year we are displaying the Alternative Christmas Card in Priesthill Road as an opportunity for us to send Christmas greetings to one another and at the same time raise money for some of the poorest people in the world. This year, as last year, we will be giving the money we raise to the international charity Oxfam.
THE REV COLIN BROWN
The Rev. Colin Brown, minister at Darnley United Free Church, is due to retire in early 2021 after 41 years’ ministry in Darnley. Over the next few weeks we will be inviting members of the congregation to make a donation towards a gift which we will present to him before he takes his leave of us.
NOTICE OF A DECISION OF THE VACANCY PROCEDURE COMMITTEE
(To be read on Sunday 13th December 2020)
Notice is hereby given that the Vacancy Procedure Committee of the Presbytery of Glasgow proposes to agree to the request from Rev Douglas Nicol to demit his charge of Glasgow: St Christopher’s Priesthill and Nitshill on 5th June 2021
This action will proceed unless at least four persons, who are either communicant members of the congregation of Glasgow: St Christopher’s Priesthill and Nitshill, or full members of Presbytery, together or separately, submit to the Depute Presbytery Clerk a request for this proposal to be considered at the next Ordinary Meeting of Presbytery.
Any such request must set out the relevant reasons, and must be submitted in writing to:
The Depute Presbytery Clerk,
Presbytery of Glasgow,
260 Bath Street,

HMcDougall@churchofscotland.org.uk
by 21st December 2020.
If four valid requests are received, then the proposed course of action will be suspended and the approval of Presbytery will be required.
Hilary McDougall Depute Presbytery Clerk
CONGRATULATIONS AND CELEBRATIONS!!
Although there is so much difficulty and anxiety at this time we take the time to mark the times of celebration in the lives of our church family members.
Congratulations to Daniel MacLaren who celebrates his 4th birthday today, Sunday, 13th December. Many Happy Returns, Daniel!
