Online Worship Services

Welcome to our Online Worship Services. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak leading to us to be unable to gather in person for church as we usually would we have dedicated this space to bring the weekly service into your homes.

Please come here each Sunday to see the next service as it is uploaded, and services will remain available following this time so feel free to 'catch up' or re-watch a service through the week as desired.

ST CHRISTOPHER’S PRIESTHILL & NITSHILL PARISH NEWSLETTER

Week beginning: Sunday 10th May 2020

Hello again!

It is hard to believe another week has gone by and sadly there is still no news of when we will be able to join together again as the church family worshipping God.

We hear that the church grounds in Priesthill Road have been given a new lease of life thanks to volunteers who have been weeding, pruning and tidying up.  We want to thank them so much for their hard work and blessing us this way.

You will have been aware that last Friday, 8th May, saw the commemoration of VE day and Douglas was able to participate with the Friends of Nitshill War Memorial by submitting a song, prayer and short talk, all filmed at the manse.  There were contributions from adults and children we know, as well as the local MP and MSP and Councillor.  It is still available to view on their Facebook Page thanks to the hard work of Alex and Trisha Glass.  We will endeavour to find a way of sharing this in the future for those who are not able to access it at the moment.

Naomi and Kirsteen continue to work tirelessly with the children, youth and families of the Parish using online resources and arranging meetings, chats and quizzes via Zoom.  We are so thankful for the internet at this time!

Douglas will be hosting a Zoom meeting tomorrow evening, Monday 11th May, when we would normally be having the Monthly Healing Service.  If you would like to connect with us in this way, whether you have been to a Healing Service before or not, please contact Douglas and he will send you the link.  This meeting will not be in the usual service format but will be a time to let us feel connected as we worship God through readings of His Word, a word of encouragement and prayer.  All are most welcome!

Douglas has also being engaging with Presbytery Meetings via Zoom.  There is a real concern regarding the financial position of the national and local church at this time as many people have not been able to bring their tithes and offerings in the normal way.  We would ask you to prayerfully consider your giving at this time.  There are various options, Bank Transfer, cheques etc.  Please contact Douglas if this is something you are able to consider at this time.

This week marks the beginning of Christian Aid week.  Throughout the world Christian Aid are continuing to respond to the needs of many in places such as Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.   As with everyone else they are adapting their fundraising efforts by having on-line events including a daily quiz and live streaming worship events.

Christian Aid will also be offering an ‘e-envelope’, to help people share the Christian Aid Week story with family and friends, and ask for a donation.  Fuller details are available on their website.

We continue to mark the milestones in the lives of our church family members and wish to say many happy returns to Marie Nicolson who celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, 5th May; and to May Anderson who celebrates her 79th birthday today, Sunday, 10th May.  Many congratulations to each of you!

We continue to pray daily for our church family, their families and those in the community for continued health and strength to deal with the challenges of life in lockdown.

If you are feeling low or struggling in any way please do not hesitate to contact either Douglas, Kirsteen or Naomi simply to talk or for prayer.  All calls/texts/emails will be treated in complete confidence.  Please do not struggle alone.
